| Operations Training (OT) is the class that teaches us about
United States Power Squadrons. It is required of all Bridge Officers and highly
recommended to all members of USPS. The class teaches us what USPS is all about, the
structure, the protocols, the traditions, the by-laws and the Operations Manual containing
the Job Descriptions of every officer and major committee chairman and the rules of USPS. From this class come the future leaders of Akron Power Squadron - the so-called "cradle" of future squadron leaders. It is held every other year. Below is a picture of our 2003 OT class, held in the home of an APS member. Hopefully, we'll see many of these students serving on the Bridge and heading committees within APS in the near future. In fact, two of these students are incoming Bridge officers, one is a BoatSmart class instructor and a couple others are incoming committee chairmen. They are all relatively new members, having joined USPS in the past two years. |
