It's not that we party that much more than we educate, or that
our priorities are not in order - or maybe they are - but just

The Mather is not our only Civic Activity - this just happens to be the event of which
we have the most pictures. Maybe because the photographer is trying to avoid the real
work! By the way, we do park clean-up at Portage Lakes State Park in Akron, OH, man (or
woman) the telephone bank at the Channel 45/49 PBS telethon, adopt a less fortunate family
during the Christmas holidays, search for and report on found or missing geodetic survey
marks to the U.S. Geodetic Survey Service and, of course, our award winning efforts conducting
Vessel Safety Checks at several marinas and boat launch ramps.
All these projects could not be made possible for not the generous and enthusiastic
volunteer services of our members. To them, a special "THANK YOU!" for making
Akron Power Squadron a truely civic-minded organization.
